About Us
Team History
Velocity Swimming has been a part of the Wenatchee Valley for over 40 years. Velocity Swimming originated in 1976 as a summer-only program called the Eastmont Swim Team. When the pool was covered in the late seventies the Eastmont swim team became a year-round USA program called the Barracudas. Coaches Jack and Jeanne Davisson led the Cuda's to multiple championships through the 1980's, 1990's and into the 21st century. In 2005 the Davisson's handed the reins to new coach Bob Hill. In the fall of 2010, the Barracudas merged with swim team parents and coaches from the WRAC to become the present Velocity Swimming. Shortly after, in the fall of 2011, John Pringle was hired as head coach. John grew the team throughout his 9 years as head coach and saw much success, sending swimmers to Winter Junior Nationals and winning 3 lnland Empire Long Course Championships, and 1 Short Course Championship. John retired from full-time coaching in August 2019.
Velocity is the only year-round competitive swim team in the greater Wenatchee Valley. We offer high-quality, professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor.
All of our coaches have access to the most comprehensive training and certification programs for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time.
Velocity Swimming, a non profit club, is run by its elected Board of Directors which meets the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. All members are welcome at each meeting and encouraged to be involved in team activities and fundraisers.
We are constantly growing and training young swimmers to maintain a well rounded competitive swim team. Thank you for joining us. We are looking forward to meeting you. Please feel free to ask another member or coach any question you may have.
Velocity Swimming accepts new swimmer registrations all year long. E-mail our head coaches for more information, or contact us through the contact tab above.
